There are literally thousands of web sites for information on sporting news. If you want the last titular, until the second score, publishing, or in depth analysis, there are a variety of options for you. While some sites offer only one or two of those things, there are several that offer all those and more. My Top 5 are below:
5. Yahoo! Sports (sports.yahoo.com) -this site is content without flash. The same is essentially as it did five years ago. It is not necessarily a bad thing, only not to cover their socks. Any information you need is readily available and updated. Columnists are not so well known as the most important sites, but are solid.
4. FOX Sports (msn.foxsports.com) -a few years ago this site was a mess. It was the anti-Yahoo!-all flash and no substance. In recent years it has anti-aliasing in flash and increased substance. Live gamecasts at the top of the page are very innovative. For example, for a baseball game will not only see the score, but also an overview of the diamond and are what runners on base. If you are interested in a specific game can move the mouse over it and get more details. If FOX keeps innovating like that, not be long number 4.
3. Sports Illustrated (sportsillustrated.cnn.com) - this site highlights two things - publishers and rumors. They have the best writers (are Sports Illustrated after all) and do an excellent job of providing tons of content. Morning Quarterback column Monday by Peter King is absolutely priceless. They also compiled a "Truth and rumors" section for each of the major sports. It is essentially a compilation of all the rumors in the local newspapers across the country. The best part about it is that it is free, unlike the rumors from ESPN.
2. CBS SportsLine (cbs.sportsline.com) – everything is great about SportsLine – they are often the first to break news, gamecasts are innovative and effective and for what it's worth sports fantasy are the best on the web. Well, they are great in everything except editorials and analysis, and are horrible. Tony Mejia, Dennis Dodd, Pete Priscus and Greg Doyle are the worst group of sports writers on the web. Where are the publishers of their personalities on the air as Jim Nantz and Billy Packer? ESPN and FOX managed to obtain his personality in the air to write, perhaps consider on CBS. Read the comments at the bottom of any article for any of the above writers and you will get that I'm not the only one who thinks that they are horrible.
1. ESPN (www.espn.com) -are systematically before the curve in each of the important aspects. They are the world leader in sports and not samples of give up the Crown on the web. I commend them for their best personalities - John Clayton, Steven a. Smith, Barry Melrose and Peter Gammons – always write good articles. The only drawback is that too much information is hidden in the 'Insider', ESPN's pay for the service. It is frustrating to read a headline, click on, and then realize that can't read the story because you have to pay for it.
